One for the Bucket List: A Dog Wedding

So what did you do this past weekend? Me? I saw some dogs get married, no biggie.

It was a beautiful ceremony, although there was a minor scare as the groom got cold feet and attempted to run off when the rings came out.

“Wait, I’m not sure about this..”

Luckily, the groom came to his senses after his dad talked him down. The rings were exchanged, declaring them dog companions for life.

The Mr. and Mrs.

The wedding was part of Love-A-Stray’s annual Hearts and Paws Valentine’s Party. The event featured dog weddings, kissing booths, professional photos and treats for dogs and humans. There were also rescue dogs from Love-A-Stray and Fido’s Companions. The party raised funds for Love-A-Stray and Fido’s Companions, both all volunteer pet rescue groups in the Avon area. If you didn’t make it out this year, definitely put this on your calendar for next year! It’s a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the dog you love.

Here’s some other photos from the event:

Hunter didn’t walk away with a wife (I think he’s too young) but he was pretty excited about his new Valentine’s toy that he got from the event. Happy early Valentine’s Day everyone!

CLE Adoptable Canine of the Week

Meet Odin!

Breed: Terrier, Pit Bull Mix
Age:  7 years
Sex:  Male
Home: Lake Humane Society

About Odin: Odin has been with the Lake Humane Society since September. Odin is a recipient of The Angel Fund, a donation-supported fund to provide veterinary care to animals in need.  They’ve determined Odin has Color Dilution Alopecia and he is currently on medication. LHS describes Odin as a sweetheart and who just wants companionship. They say he is a good candidate for a foster since a home environment would be good while he’s on medication and healing.

Meet Sammee!

Sammee has a very sad story, but is looking for his happy ending! He was found New Year’s Day frozen to the road in Southern Ohio. Thankfully, a woman stopped to check on him and saw that he was still alive. He is now on the mend and spending his days with Marilyn’s Voice, waiting for a furever home. They say he is an easy dog and, at 10 years old, he mainly just sleeps and eats. He does wear belly bands, as they say he likes to mark, but Marilyn’s Voice will provide plently of belly bands for his adopted family.

If you’re interested in this sweet little guy, you can fill out an application here or contact Marilyn’s Voice ( for more info.

CLE Canine of the Week – Adoption Edition!

Meet Yama!
Yama’s Story
Yama was rescued by Paws & Prayers over a year ago and is still waiting to be adopted. He is a very sweet dog who needs a special adopter who wants to adopt a true rescue dog. Yama is very shy at first and it is thought that his previous owners did not socialize him at all. However he has never shown any fear aggression and it is not thought that he was ever abused. He acts like a normal dog (albeit quirky) once he knows you and feels safe.  He loves to play with other dogs and really wants a home with a canine sibling. He is also good with kids, but not so much with cats.
Check out his listing on Petfinder for more info:
