On Sunday I organized my first fundraiser – a Pommie Brunch event to raise funds for Central Ohio Pomeranian Rescue. I fostered for them most of last year and met my best friend Roscoe thanks to them (they don’t just rescue poms), so I am forever indebted to the organization. Kim Ray, COPR’s President, does great work rescuing poms and other small breed dogs across the state and surrounding states, often taking in sick and elderly dogs that typically have a hard time finding homes.
Since I haven’t been fostering lately since adopting Roscoe, I wanted to find other ways I could help COPR. Inspired by Northeast Ohio Dachshund Picnic, which is a dachshund meetup organized every summer to raise money for Northeast Ohio Dachshund Rescue, I started a Pom meetup group, Northeast Ohio Pomeranian Meetup earlier this year. I thought it would be good way to get pom owners together to plan meetups and fundraisers for COPR. Unfortunately it took me a while to finally getting around to plan an event. I contacted Around the Corner in Lakewood just a couple of weeks ago to see if we could use their patio for a fundraiser and was able to book it on very short notice (thanks ATC!) for a dog-friendly brunch. The staff at ATC was great and it was a perfect patio for a bunch of crazy poms! (Note: they are only dog friendly for special dog events).
I was so pleased with the turnout considering that it was only announced a week prior. We had several people from the meetup group plus a few of the local COPR fosters – and so many fluffy poms (and a few honorary poms, like Roscoe)! It was a like a dream come true for me.

I love Poms, they are all so adorable. The one in the first picture is especially adorable. Good for you, helping them out.

I love this! So many people think that unless they are fostering, they aren’t helping. There are so many other ways to help: education, fundraising, or even just awareness. Nice job!!
