August Dog Friendly Events

So I’m a little behind on my August events roundup, but there are still some fun events left this month to share! Before we know it summer will be over, so now is your chance to get out and enjoy some summer activities with your dog.

Here are some events to mark on your calendar this month:

Mutt Strut – Aug. 22mutt strut

This one mile walk benefits the Lake Humane Society and features games, prize raffles, an agility course, a Chinese Auction as well as shopping at the “Mutt Mall.” Mutt Strut will also feature an adoptable dog runway show, “Project Ruffway” to showcase dogs in LHS’ care that need a home. There are still a couple of weeks left to sign up and raise pledges for the walk. All the proceeds will go to help care for the homeless dogs that Lake Humane takes in. DogFest Walk ‘n Roll – Aug. 22

The nationwide event, hosted by Canine Companions of Independence, DOGFEST_primarytwocoloran organization which places service dogs with individuals with disabilities, will hit Cleveland on Aug. 22 at Hudson Springs Park. You can put together a team for the one mile walk and then fundraise to earn a prize. In addition to the walk, there will be free coffee and donuts, face painting, dog tattoos, an agility course and photos. Find out more at:

Tails for Trails – Aug. 23

Cohosted by the West Creek Conservancy and the Parma Animal Shelter, this thtailsree-mile walk raises money for West Creek Conservancy’s efforts to build trails in the community as well as Parma Animal Shelter’s efforts to help needy animals in the community. For every $20 raised in pledges, you will receive a ticket for a chance to win a grand prize.  The event also includes refreshments, a photo booth, face painting, shopping with local vendors, music, raffles and more. Dog Paddle and Pet-a-Palooza – Aug. 23

You can bring your dog to swim at the Ledge Pool at Hinckley Reservation on Aug, 23. A $5/per dog admission fee will benefit the Cleveland APL and the Medina County SPCA.  A mini dog fair will also be held on the grounds with exhibitors and vendors to purchase items to pamper the pooches.
